To let my patron can quickly export my models to other software, my models are all FK armature.
Of course, for the most part, we use IK Rig for our creations, so in this article I’ll talk about two of my favorite ways to rapid transition from FK to IK.
Addon
Either way, add-on are required.
- Auto IK Rigger($5)
- Auto-Rig Pro($40+$10)
You can buy it from below.
Auto IK Rigger V2
Please download my model rig mapping preset, you can quickly use this preset for conversion in V2.
Load the model you need to Rig, then select it to switch to pose mode, you can find “Auto Rigger Panel V2” in the Object Data Properties.
Click “Load Rig File”, then select My Preset File in the path below.
You are free to choose the functions you need, generally I will turn on “Clean Rig” and “Add Custom Bone Shapes”.
Then set the Spine to 4.
Finally, just click on Run Auto Rig at the bottom, boom, you’re done.
Auto IK Rigger V1
Please download my configuration file before you use it, because my models all use DAZ amature, with automatic bone recognition, the transition will be faster.
Add-on pathC:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\[YourBlenderVersion]\scripts\addons\r4q-rigger-master\
First, select the amature you want to convert IK and switch to pose mode.
Use F3 (you may be another shortcut) to cut out the search menu, then search “Auto Rigger”.
This will bring up the selection panel, which will automatically fill in if you are using my configuration. Check Clean and Add_Custom_Bones below, press OK.
Then, your armature will switch from FK to IK.
You can find extra bones that have been placed in other layers in the armature panel.
As an additional note, bones with shapes are only allowed to be created one per project (since shapes cannot be reused), you can save them separately and append them to your desired project.
Auto-Rig Pro
Auto-rig Pro itself is a binding add-on, which is useful. The authors developed Quick Rig to improve usability, and this time we’ll just use Quick Rig.
After confirming that the add-on works, switch to the ARP > Quick Rig panel, select the Armature you want to convert.
You can find more presets next to the Import button, choose DAZ because most of my model is based on DAZ armature.
Select the features you want to enable, I’ll leave them as default, press OK.
After that, you’re ready to use auto-Rig Pro’s advanced armature. Read the add-on documentation for more practical tips.
Note that you can restore the armature to its original state by clicking Revert.
